Offaly has a population of 64,000 and employers have access to a mobile, skilled workforce from the region as a whole, which has a population of over 300,000 people. The county's strategic location and growing enterprise sector attracts workers from the surrounding counties on a daily basis. The region’s third level college is the Athlone Institute of Technology, which caters for 5,000 students. Offaly students have convenient access to Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, University College Galway, Carlow Institute of Technology, St Patrick’s College, Maynooth and University of Limerick.
